Cambodian Embassy signs AI-powered fire safety agreement to protect workers in South Korea

Khuon Phon Rattanak, Cambodia’s Ambassador to South Korea, signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on an AI based multilingual Fire Safety Platform on Wednesday, in Eumseong County, North Chungcheong province, South Korea.

The agreement was signed between the Cambodian Embassy, Eumseong County and the Korea Fire Industry Technology Institute (KFI), to improve fire safety and protect the overall well-being of foreign workers, particularly Cambodian nationals in South Korea.

The platform uses artificial intelligence (AI) technology to provide fire safety information and services free of charge in six languages: Korean, Khmer, English, Vietnamese, Chinese and Nepali. Khmer will be the first language among the six to be launched.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ambassador Rattanak said the Cambodian community in Korea plays a significant role in contributing to the development of Korea’s national economy; however, their safety remains a top priority to which the Embassy consistently pays close attention.

He said the platform would help reduce potential fire-related accidents caused by language barriers and make essential safety information more accessible to Cambodian workers.

The embassy will also work to promote the platform to ensure that Cambodian nationals living across South Korea can benefit and improve their awareness of fire safety.
