For the Second Time in a Month, Sharaa Meets Bin Salman in Riyadh to Advance Bilateral Cooperation

Syrian President Ahmad al‑Sharaa met on Wednesday with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at Al‑Yamama Palace in Riyadh, heading a high‑level delegation during his visit to the Kingdom.

The Syrian Presidency announced across its official platforms that the meeting took place in the presence of several ministers and senior officials from both countries. Discussions focused on bilateral relations, prospects for further development and mechanisms to enhance cooperation across multiple sectors. Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual concern, underscoring the importance of strengthening security and stability throughout the region.

President Sharaa arrived in the Saudi capital earlier in the day, leading a senior delegation that included the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Defense, Finance and Industry, as well as the Head of General Intelligence, according to the state news agency SANA. Prior to the meeting, SANA reported that the visit aimed to address a broad range of bilateral issues and oversee the signing of agreements across several sectors.

This trip marks President Sharaa’s second official visit to Riyadh in less than a month, following his previous meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on 6 October.

The visit follows an August phone call between President Sharaa and the Saudi Crown Prince, during which the Syrian President reaffirmed Damascus’s support for Saudi Arabia’s security and sovereignty while condemning an attempted attack on Saudi oil facilities by Iranian‑aligned militias in Iraq. According to a statement issued by the Saudi Foreign Ministry at the time, the two leaders discussed strengthening common interests, developing joint cooperation across diverse fields and reviewing regional efforts to de‑escalate tensions and maintain stability.
