Man arrested over alleged plot to attack President Abinader

Santo Domingo.- The Public Prosecutor’s Office arrested a 29-year-old man identified as Delvinson De la Cruz Sosa as part of an investigation into alleged threats against President Luis Abinader.

Authorities raided an apartment in the Vista del Valle neighborhood of San Francisco de Macorís, Duarte province, as well as the Molina Hardware Store, where the suspect works.

According to prosecutors, intelligence agencies had detected and reported alleged plans involving the detainee. Authorities seized electronic devices and chemical substances during the searches, which are being analyzed as potential evidence.

The search warrant states that investigators are examining an alleged plan to attack President Abinader on November 6, 2026, during Constitution Day commemorations at the National Congress.

The investigation is being supported by the Cybercrime Investigation Division of the National Intelligence Directorate (DNI), while the Public Prosecutor’s Office continues gathering evidence in the case.
