Thor Chetha, Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology, met with a Chinese delegation today, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation and supporting the development of Cambodia’s meteorological sector.
The delegation was led by Hu Wen, Director-General of the Anhui Meteorological Service under the China Meteorological Administration (CMA), during a meeting at the ministry.
Chetha welcomed the delegation, which was assigned to work with Cambodian meteorological authorities to promote the practical implementation of the MAZU solution and evaluate its effectiveness in Cambodia.
MAZU is a comprehensive solution designed to strengthen early warning capabilities. Launched by the China Meteorological Administration last year, it aims to reduce risks associated with meteorological disasters worldwide and support the United Nations initiative “Early Warnings for All.”
The solution provides cloud-based services in more than 40 countries, while installation and operational deployment have been completed in seven countries.
Both sides discussed ways to deepen cooperation through long-term collaboration, regular exchange visits, communication between relevant organisations, specialised technical training and participation in various multilateral mechanisms.
The discussions also focused on strengthening practical bilateral cooperation in meteorology while further reinforcing the traditional friendship between Cambodia and China.
