The National Election Committee (NEC) has recorded 341,538 newly registered voters during the first 27 days of the 2026 voter list review and registration process, with the nationwide exercise continuing until November 30.
Heng Sileng, an NEC member, announced the preliminary figures during a meeting with stakeholders on at NEC headquarters on Tuesday, covering the period from October 7 to November 2.
He said the NEC had also recorded 129,794 people transferring their registration to polling stations in new communes or sangkats, while 902,621 had requested corrections to their biographical information and 930,576 had updated their biometric data.
Meanwhile, 206,223 names were identified for removal from the voter list.
Sileng said the process had proceeded smoothly, with NEC officials, local authorities, security forces and other stakeholders cooperating to facilitate voter registration, despite challenges involving rainfall, outdated equipment, technical problems and limited internet connectivity in some remote areas.
He added that 6,725 political party agents from 12 parties, including 1,646 women, had been registered, while the NEC had accredited 2,894 national election observers, including 1,211 women.
As of November 2, the NEC had also issued identification cards to 75 national journalists from 12 media organisations. No complaints had been received at commune and sangkat council or NEC levels.
Sileng called on eligible citizens, particularly those who have reached the age of 18 by the June 6, 2027 commune council election, and registered voters who have relocated to new communes or sangkats, to complete their registration or update their information before the November 30 deadline.
He said registration teams were making efforts to bring registration services closer to residents, including those in remote areas, to ensure eligible citizens could exercise their voting rights.
