Jimmie Women’s Hockey Comes Back In 3rd Period, But Minot State Hangs On

MINOT – Jamestown Jimmies ACHA Division 1 Women’s Hockey rallied in the third period Friday, but Minot State hung on for a 4-2 victory at Maysa Arena to sweep the two-game series.

Kaitlyn Snyder scored her second goal in as many days for a 1-0 Minot State lead 2:19 into the first period.

Sydney Sass doubled the lead for the Beavers at 7:36 of the second period.

Karlyn Gudz scored 5:59 into the third period and MSU was up 3-0.

Then, the Jimmie rally began.  Mikaela Nimitz scored a power play goal, her first this season and unassisted at 11:12.

While the Jimmies (0-7-0-0, 0-5-0-0 WMCH) were serving a bench minor for too many players on the ice, Lana Cipriano scored a shorthanded goal from Leah Klassen with 27 seconds to play.  Cipriano’s second goal of the season brought UJ within 3-2 while the Jimmies had an extra skater on the ice.

But with 11 seconds left, Kinley Brassard sealed the game for Minot State with a power play goal into the Jamestown empty net.

Olivia Busby was steady in goal for the Jimmies, making 39 saves.  Minot State outshot Jamestown 43-18.

Jamestown will play Midland University Thursday in Fremont, Nebraska.
