Japanese ODA press tour starts in Phnom Penh

Embassy of Japan Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission Misumi Takahito and Japan International Cooperation Agency Senior Representative Yako Yoshito launched a three-day press tour on November 2 to showcase Official Development Assistance projects improving infrastructure, agriculture, mine clearance and education across Cambodia.

The tour, running November 2 to 4, brings together officials from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Council for the Development of Cambodia and media representatives.

“As one of the major development partners, Japan is committed to continuing to strengthen cooperation with Cambodia, contributing to the sustainable development of the Kingdom,” Misumi said in his opening remarks, noting that the tour helps raise public awareness of Japan-funded development projects.

The press tour covers a flood protection and drainage improvement project in southern Phnom Penh, an irrigation and drainage rehabilitation project in Kampong Speu, the Cambodian Mine Action Centre and Wat Svay Primary School in Siem Reap.
