NEW ROCKFORD (NewsDakota)- Coming into their 9-man quarterfinal on Saturday against Lewis & Clark, New Rockford-Sheyenne/Maddock had won 35 consecutive games, good for the seventh longest streak in the country.

And it took three minutes to make certain it would be 36.

Tommy Allmaras accounted for four total touchdowns and the Rockets defense gave up just 68 yards of offense in a 56-8 win over the Longhorns on Saturday in New Rockford.

The onslaught began immediately, with the Rockets executing a five play, 46 yard drive capped by a one yard plunge by Allmaras after a 35 yard completion from Jax Demester to Koy Zieman for a 6-0 lead 85 seconds in.  After a four and out, Demester tossed a fifteen yard scoring pass to Allmaras and three minutes in it was 14-0.

It would get worse for the Longhorns, who were forced to punt on their next possession, and Allmaras took the punt back 89 yards for a 22-0 lead.  In the second, Demester and Allmaras connected from 20 yards and Demester found Zieman for a 32 yard score and Demester added a 25 yard touchdown run to make it 42-0 at halftime.

After Zieman got a pick six on the first possession of the second half and Trig Williams ran in the final score from one yard before the Longhorns scored on a 49 yard run by Parker Nesham.  Lewis & Clark’s other 38 snaps went for a total of 19 yards.  Demester was 11-for-16 for 163 yards and three touchdowns through the air and added 57 yards and a score on the ground.  The Rockets defense intercepted four passes, including three after halftime.

The Rockets’ 36 game winning streak is now the fourth longest since 1975 in North Dakota and is currently tied for the sixth longest streak in America.

New Rockford-Sheyenne/Maddock (11-0) will host Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter (10-1) on Saturday with coverage on KDAK The Cardinal beginning at noon.
