West Indies and Bangladesh set for classic finale on day four of first test in Dhaka

The first cricket test between West Indies and Bangladesh in Dhaka could well be over before the scheduled close on day four, with the game hanging precariously in the balance after three days.

When play resumes at 11pm Jamaica time on Friday, that’s later today, Bangladesh will pick up from 79 for 6 in their second innings, a lead of 106.

Captain Roston Chase has so far taken 3 of the Bangladeshi wickets, with his vice captain Jomel Warrican bagging 2.

The West Indies lost their last 6 wickets for 111 runs to be bowled out for 245 in their first innings as Nayeem Hasan claimed 4 for 33.

Batting coach Floyd Reifer says the West Indies needed to produce a strong bowling performance after failing to gain the advantage on first innings.

Reifer says the first hour on day four will be crucial.

Meanwhile Bangladesh’s No. 3 batter Mominul Haque, , has been replaced by Jaker Ali as a concussion substitute after suffering a head injury while fielding on Friday.

He suffered the injury shortly after the lunch break – in the 78th over of West Indies’ first innings, when attempting a catch close to the bat.
