BLOOMFIELD, N.M. – New eyewitness video shows feet of floodwater covering roads and seeping into homes near Bloomfield as San Juan County braces for more rain.
The video was taken earlier this week in San Juan County near Bloomfield. It shows floodwater still covering roads after the rain stopped and water getting into homes.
Communities in the county are preparing for more rain. Self-fill sandbags are available for people in the county and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is still in the area assessing previous damage.
The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office is also urging families not to trick-or-treat in flood-impacted neighborhoods. The office also told families to keep kids out of puddles and standing water.
“Areas that are near closed roadways, all of that are dangerous for the kids. It’s also dangerous for first responders if they’ve got to respond,” Chief Steve Hebbe said.
