Kratie provincial authorities resolved 113 of 168 complaints and requests raised by residents through public forums in the third quarter of 2026, with another 33 cases still being addressed.
Speaking at a meeting on Friday to review the activities and results of the provincial Royal Government Working Groups during the third quarter of 2026 and discuss future work directions, Neth Pheaktra, head of the Royal Government Working Group for Kratie province, commended local authorities for their efforts in carrying out grassroots work and addressing residents’ concerns.
He urged authorities at all levels to continue providing effective and timely public services to citizens without discrimination, while strengthening efforts to combat drug-related offences, gang activities and online scams at the grassroots level.
He also called for continued coordination among relevant authorities to maintain security, public order and social safety and ensure that public concerns receive appropriate attention and solutions.
According to provincial governor Var Thorn, the working groups organised 20 public forums across cities, districts, communes and sangkats during the three-month period, attracting 4,227 participants, including 1,645 women, and receiving 168 proposals and requests from residents.
Of these, 65 cases, or 39 percent, were resolved directly during the forums, while another 48 cases, equivalent to 29 percent, were addressed by commune, district, city and provincial authorities.
A further 33 cases, representing 20 percent, remain under consideration at the subnational level, while 21 cases have yet to be resolved. One case has been referred to the national level for assistance.
Thorn said grassroots engagement was an important mechanism for strengthening communication between the Royal Government and citizens, enabling officials to explain government policies, development plans and sectoral reforms while directly listening to public concerns.
He said provincial working groups, local administrations and relevant technical departments had been working together to explain issues, respond to requests and find solutions to problems raised by residents.
For cases that cannot be addressed immediately, authorities are required to develop phased solutions based on priorities, actual needs, available budgets and resources, he added.
“Most of the issues that have not yet been resolved involve large-scale requests requiring resources beyond the capacity of the working groups and subnational administrations,” Thorn said.
He said the authorities would continue coordinating through provincial, city, district, commune and sangkat budgets, as well as relevant departmental resources and commune and sangkat funds, to address outstanding issues.
Thorn added that the working groups would continue strengthening direct engagement with residents to understand their challenges, concerns, proposals and disputes and find appropriate and timely solutions.
The meeting reviewed the working groups’ achievements during the third quarter and set directions for their continued work, focusing on improving public service delivery, strengthening local governance and supporting the implementation of the government’s political programme and Pentagonal Strategy – Phase I under its seventh-mandate administration.
