For students receiving Government scholarships, the goal is not simply to enter university, but to graduate with qualifications that open doors to employment and a better future.
The Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service is setting out a five-year plan to improve student support, strengthen accountability and ensure public funding delivers better results.
The TSLS Strategic Plan 2026–2031 includes nine strategic goals covering customer service, digital transformation and institutional governance.
Chief Executive Officer Dr Apisalome Movono said the plan will guide staff towards shared responsibilities and improved performance over the next five years.
“In a nutshell, we want to be a better version of ourselves” Movono highlighted.
The organisation is also digitising more than 60-thousand historical scholarship files and strengthening cooperation with tertiary institutions and Government agencies to better track graduates and identify students who need support.
Minister for Finance Esrom Immanuel has emphasised that the plan must deliver measurable results, with greater focus on students completing their studies and securing employment.
“By 2031, we should be able to demonstrate not only that more Fijians have accessed tertiary education, but that more have completed their qualifications, secured meaningful employment and contributed positively to our country’s development” Immanuel said.
TSLS says the strategy will be implemented through annual work plans, measurable targets and clear responsibilities, with its success ultimately reflected in better outcomes for students and the country.
