Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has emerged as one of the biggest hits in Tamil cinema, setting new box-office records.
The film has also performed exceptionally well in the Telugu states, becoming one of the biggest hits among dubbed films in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Released during the Dasara holiday period, Jailer 2 attracted audiences despite competition from Vijay Deverakonda’s Ranabaali. Its strong theatrical performance made it a major success in the Telugu market as well.
Yet, Naga Vamsi, who acquired the film’s Telugu theatrical rights, is unlikely to make a profit from the venture.
One reason is the high price he paid to acquire the rights. Another is that he reportedly sold the film to local distributors at comparatively lower prices to compensate them for losses they incurred on some of his earlier productions that failed at the box office.
As a result, even though Jailer 2 has emerged as a major hit in the Telugu states, its success may not translate into profits for Naga Vamsi.
