Jakarta, IO – In the first two years of his administration, President Prabowo Subianto has built 265 Sekolah Rakyat (community schools), providing over 45,000 street children with the opportunity to return to school.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy I. Wijaya shared his observations following an unannounced visit to the Integrated Sekolah Rakyat in Cikarang, West Java.
“Last night, on my way back from Hambalang, I made a brief stop at the Integrated Sekolah Rakyat in Cikarang. I purposefully arrived unannounced to observe firsthand the children’s nightly routine before bedtime,” he said in a written statement on Monday.
He expressed deep emotion upon observing the school’s newly constructed building, situated in a strategic location and fully equipped with complete facilities. He also commended the dedicated teaching staff serving at the institution.
“The principal is an English teacher, supported by an outstanding team of teachers and dormitory supervisors who attentively guide the children every day,” Teddy added.

During the visit, he took time to converse with the students, listening to their personal stories and aspirations regarding the educational initiative.
“I had the opportunity to hear many inspiring stories from the children. One of them, Al Tariq, who lost both parents at the age of three, now has the chance to study again at Sekolah Rakyat and harbors ambitious dreams—aiming to become one of Indonesia’s top medical specialists one day,” he wrote.
He concluded by expressing his hope for the future of the nation’s youth: “May all Indonesian children, without exception, realize their dreams in the future.” (des)
