Iraq, KBR discuss oil sector development

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs Mohsen al-Mandalawi and a delegation from US-based KBR discussed on Thursday developing the country’s oil and gas sectors.

KBR’s delegation headed by the company’s president for sustainable technology solutions, Jay Ibrahim, discussed prospects for joint cooperation in the oil, gas, and energy sectors, as well as leveraging the firm’s expertise to develop infrastructure and enhance the efficiency of strategic projects, according to a statement cited by the state-run Iraqi News Agency (INA).

The meeting addressed the recovery of associated gas, the development of oil fields, the enhancement of production efficiency, and the modernization of oil facilities.

The two sides also discussed leveraging KBR’s cutting-edge technology solutions to help Iraq’s oil industry grow and to make it easier to carry out key projects that meet requirements for effectiveness, quality, and financial sustainability.

The Iraqi official stressed the importance of ongoing coordination among Iraqi authorities to identify potential areas for collaboration.

Al-Mandalawi noted that the government aims to develop actionable programs related to the Majnoon oil field, the recovery of associated gas at the West Qurna field, initiatives for ammonia production, and efforts to reduce gas flaring at oil fields.
