A total of 2,940 Cambodian and international athletes from 36 countries participated in the fourth AIA Pink Run in Phnom Penh on October 25 to raise awareness about breast cancer and encourage people to engage in sports for better health.

Thong Khon, President of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC), said the event attracted 2,940 participants, including 2,535 Cambodian athletes and 405 international athletes from 36 countries.

The event featured 10km, 5km and 2.5km running categories, allowing participants of different fitness levels to take part in promoting healthy lifestyles and raising breast cancer awareness in Cambodia.

He noted that the countries with the highest numbers of international participants included the Philippines, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan and Australia.

Thong commended the cooperation of the Phnom Penh Capital Administration, relevant authorities and the private sector, whose joint efforts helped ensure the smooth organisation of the annual event.

He added that the run also supported the national campaign, “One Person, One Sport for Life”, which encourages people to participate in sports and engage in regular physical exercise to improve their well-being and develop healthy lifestyle habits.

The AIA Pink Run aims to combine sporting activities with health education, encouraging the public, particularly women, to prioritise breast cancer awareness, regular health screenings and early detection.

The event also seeks to disseminate knowledge about breast cancer prevention while promoting public participation in humanitarian initiatives.
