I-40 shut down near Cubero due to flooding

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Flooding closed parts of Interstate 40 near Exit 104 between Grants and Albuquerque on Saturday evening. Drivers should expect severe delays in both directions.

According to NMROADS, both directions of the interstate are closed between mile markers 102 and 108 with no detour available and no timeline for reopening.

KOB 4 received viewer images showing flooded lanes near Cubero. The images also showed semis stuck on the road with water going above the wheels.

Traffic maps showed the old Route 66 path closed and unavailable as a detour.
