Fire crews contained a battery fire at a house located near an elementary school in the southeast valley Saturday morning.

The Clark County Fire Department said in a release that crews responded to reports of a battery on fire just after 3 a.m. inside a residence at 5344 Hillsboro Lane, located across the street from Harley A. Harmon Elementary School.

“Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the front of the home and initiated an aggressive interior attack to locate and extinguish the source of the fire and ensure all occupants had safely evacuated,” the release said.

The Fire Department said crews contained the fire and located one individual who was treated on scene and that the cause of the fire is currently undetermined.
