The Bank of Jamaica, BOJ, is urging customers to keep a close eye on their accounts following the cyber-attack on JETS Limited, the company that operates the Multi-Link debit card network.
In a statement on Friday, the BOJ says it has been working with JETS, member financial institutions and national authorities since it was informed of the incident.
The central bank says it supports the decision by JETS to go public with the information.
The BOJ is advising customers to monitor their bank alerts and to promptly report any unfamiliar transactions.
It is also warning the public to be wary of unsolicited calls, texts, emails or social media messages about their accounts, including those claiming to be from their bank, JETS or the BOJ, as these may be fraud attempts.
Customers are reminded never to share their PIN, CVV, one-time passwords or online banking login with anyone.
