Electric vehicle plant in Bishkek expected to launch in late 2026 or spring 2027
AKIPRESS.COM – Construction of an electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Bishkek is nearing completion, President Sadyr Japarov said on October 23 during a meeting with residents of Tash-Kumyr and Kara-Kul.
According to Japarov, the plant is expected to begin operations either in late 2026 or in March-April 2027. It will produce both passenger cars and larger vehicles.
A state program will subsequently be established to replace older vehicles and those powered by gasoline and diesel engines with electric vehicles. The government also plans to transition its vehicle fleet to electric cars.
The replacement of conventional vehicles with electric ones is expected to be completed over the next 15-20 years.
The plant will have the capacity to produce approximately 10,000 electric vehicles annually, the president said.
