San Juan County flooding prompts river evacuations; shelter at McGee Park

FARMINGTON, N.M. – The San Juan County Office of Emergency Management warned that flooding is rising along the Animas and San Juan rivers and told people near the water to evacuate now.

The San Juan County Office of Emergency Management said it is receiving reports of flooding along both rivers and expects the water to keep rising over the next few hours.

“If you live along the river and the water is getting close, it’s time to go. Evacuate now,” said officials.

Officials set up a shelter at McGee Park for people who need to leave their homes.

People who need to evacuate and have an RV can bring it to McGee Park and park in the RV1 Parking lot.
