Eight years ago, Republican strategist Steve Bannon uttered the words “flood the zone” to describe his technique of overwhelming the media with an onslaught of news. Unfortunately, that’s what we’ve been dealing with through two separate Donald Trump presidencies.
The practice consists of saying so many things that we don’t know what to keep track of and can’t possibly research to educate ourselves on everything that’s being said. We all have been in a classroom where there was a person who was getting an outsized portion of the attention of everyone in the room, including the teacher — and everyone suffered.
