Ashfield firefighters have issued a warning to motorists who are putting lives at risk by parking outside the station.

The warning comes after motorists repeatedly obstructed access to the fire station in Sutton Road.

A spokesman for Ashfield Fire Station said: “The yellow cross-hatched markings outside Ashfield Fire Station must be kept clear at all times. There are also KEEP CLEAR signs on the road outside the station to remind motorists not to obstruct access.

“These markings and signs are there for a vital reason, to ensure our firefighters can respond to emergencies as quickly and safely as possible.

Motorists are being warned not to obstruct Ashfield Fire Station.

“Keeping these areas clear could save valuable seconds when responding to an emergency and help keep our whole community safe.”

Motorists are also being reminded not to park or stop on the yellow hatches outside the station or obstruct the ‘Keep Clear’ area.

The spokesman added: “Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us protect our community.”
