JAMESTOWN – After an early push, Jamestown Blue Jays Volleyball swept and swept their way to the WDA lead.
Jamestown topped Minot North Tuesday at Jerry Meyer Arena 25-23, 25-15, 25-13. This win, coupled with a Century loss to Legacy, left the Blue Jays one match ahead of the Patriots for first place in the WDA.
Lucy Falk scored 21 kills with 16 digs, an ace and a block for the Blue Jays (22-6, 14-1 WDA) in their seventh straight conference victory. Claire Marker had 10 kills, two blocks and three digs. Amelia Newman served two aces with six kills and three digs. Hannah Attleson had 37 set assists, 13 digs and a kill.
Minot North (12-14, 6-9) had kills from Addie Harper and seven from Brynn Francis.
The Sentinels pushed Jamestown in the first set, leading by five points twice and by 23-20 before the Blue Jays scored the last five points of the set, four of which came on kills by Falk.
There was no such drama in the second set because JHS led 14-3. Though Minot North moved within 16-11 and 18-12, a costly rotation violation on the Sentinels started a 7-3 run for the home side that ended the set.
Minot North led the third set 7-5 before Falk had two kills, Lexy Walch had three and Marker had two kills after combining with Attleson on two scoring blocks. A kill by Newman put the Blue Jays up 16-9, then Morgan Scott had two kills in a 9-2 run that ended the match.
Jamestown will host Minot in the final home match of the regular season on Tuesday, October 27 at Jerry Meyer Arena, with the varsity match set to begin at 7:00 PM.
