ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Lobos are set to host the North Dakota State University Bison this Saturday.
With both teams looking strong on paper, the Bison come into this contest 6-1 (3-1) while the Lobos are currently 5-1 (2-0).
With both teams currently sitting at #1 & #2 in conference standings, this weekend’s game, there are major implications on the line, not just for the conference standings but for the College Football Playoffs.
It will be a battle of defenses. The Lobos currently rank #1 in Scoring Defense (10.5 )while the Bison rank #2 (11.29) in all of FBS.
This will be the first time the top two scoring defenses square off since Indiana/Ohio State last season.
Another thing that will be key for the Lobos is their ground attack. They are currently averaging 214.5 yards per game which ranks 21st in the country. NDSU currently ranks 34th in the country for rushing defense only yielding 112.5 yards per game.
Coach Eck said the atmosphere and fans will be crucial to their success creating an environment that makes it hard for the NDSU to play in.
Eck said, “The fans impacted the game. The fans certainly made a difference in our game last year against San Diego State. So, we need those fans to come out and provide a lot of noise and make a difference in this game”.
The game is set to kickoff at 8:00 p.m. and will be airing on the CW Channel.
