Russian Language Classes Begin in Sierra Leone

Today, the first Russian language class was held at St. Joseph’s Secondary School in Freetown. The course was organised by the Partner Russian House of the Centre for Public Diplomacy.

The students were welcomed at the start of the course by Mr. Sorie Turay, Executive Secretary of the Sierra Leone Teaching Service Commission, Mr. Charles Sheriff, District Officer of the Sierra Leone Teaching Service Commission, Western Urban Freetown, and Mr. Artem Khmelev, Director of the Russian House in Sierra Leone.

In their remarks, they highlighted the importance of learning foreign languages for education and future professional development, as well as for expanding opportunities for international communication.

Learning Russian will give the students an opportunity to discover Russian culture and the Russian education system and, in the future, to pursue further studies and develop connections with Russian educational institutions.

The launch of the course marks another step in strengthening educational cooperation between Russia and Sierra Leone and promoting the Russian language in the country.

We wish the students every success in learning Russian!
