Neth Pheaktra Registers to Vote, Urges Public to Check Voter Lists Ahead of Commune Elections

Minister of Information Neth Pheaktra has urged eligible Cambodian citizens to check their names on voter lists and register within the designated period ahead of the 2027 commune/sangkat council elections, after registering to vote in Kratie province on Friday.

Minister Pheaktra, who is also chairman of the Royal Government’s working group for Kratie province, registered at the voter registration office at Kratie Commune Hall in Kratie city, accompanied by members of his working group.

His participation highlighted the importance of checking voter information and completing registration procedures on time to ensure eligible citizens can exercise their voting rights in accordance with the law.

According to the National Election Committee (NEC), the 2026 voter list review and registration process runs from October 7 to November 30 at commune and sangkat halls and selected villages nationwide.

The process aims to ensure voter lists are complete, accurate and up to date ahead of the elections scheduled for June 6, 2027.

The review includes removing the names of deceased voters, those whose voting rights have been temporarily revoked and those who have moved to another commune or sangkat, subject to valid supporting documents and established procedures.

The registration process also covers Cambodian citizens who will be at least 18 years old by election day and have not previously registered to vote, as well as those who have moved to a new commune or sangkat.

Eligible citizens must register in the commune or sangkat where they currently live or reside and comply with the NEC’s requirements.

The process also allows voters to request corrections to their personal information based on valid supporting documents.

In addition, biometric information, including photographs and fingerprints, will be updated for voters who registered in 2016 and 2017 but have not yet updated their biometric data in the voter list.

Minister Pheaktra has urged eligible citizens across the country to check their names and personal information carefully and prepare the necessary documents to register or correct their details within the designated period.
