For the first time, 30 Year 10 students at Malasitapu Junior and Secondary School will sit their examinations, with the school aiming to achieve a high level of academic performance.
Principal Jack Maite told VBTC News that the school was placing greater focus on the students as they prepared for the examinations, which he said were important for their academic progress.
He said the school wanted the students to perform well and was dedicating more time to their preparation.
School focuses on Year 10 preparation
Mr Maite said Year 10 students had many lessons to cover, prompting the school to spend more time helping them prepare for their examinations.
He said the school wanted to achieve a high standard of performance and make the school’s founding members proud.
Malasitapu Junior and Secondary School was established by founding members of the Presbyterian Church.
The school currently has 464 students, from kindergarten to Year 10, and employs 39 teachers.
One teacher involved in second strike
Mr Maite said only one of the school’s 39 teachers was participating in the second strike.
He acknowledged that teachers had the right to strike but said the first strike, which began in June 2024, had made it difficult for teachers to return to their normal teaching routines.
The school is continuing its preparations for the Year 10 examinations, with the aim of helping the students achieve strong results.
