The search for the seven-year-old girl who went missing from her house in Alampoondi near Gingee in Villupuram district on Sunday (October 11, 2026) continued on Tuesday (October 13). There had been no updates so far about the child’s whereabouts.

The local police, accompanied by more than 50 police personnel, formed four special teams and launched a search for the girl. Villupuram district Superintendent of Police S. Madhivanan visited Alampoondi on Monday (October 12) and supervised the search for Hemalatha, daughter of Vadivel, 45, and Bhavani, 40, both agricultural labourers.

According to the police, the girl celebrated her birthday at home on Sunday. She then went to bed with her parents and grandmother at around 11 p.m.

When her parents woke up at around 6 a.m. the following morning, they found her missing. They launched a search for her and informed the Sathyamangalam police. Following a complaint, over 50 police personnel from the Gingee, Ananthapuram, Sathyamangalam, and Avalurpet police stations searched for the missing girl in Gingee and the surrounding areas. The police also pressed two drones into service to scan the surrounding hillocks. However, the girl could not be traced.
