BRIDGEVILLE, Del. — Delawareans looking for something to do this weekend have a good problem: There may be more festivals, sporting events, concerts and family activities than anyone can fit into three days.
The weekend of Oct. 9-11 brings together some of the First State’s favorite fall traditions, with activities stretching from Wilmington to Sussex County.
From scrapple slinging and pumpkin picking to independent films and college football, the calendar offers something for nearly every age and interest.

Apple-Scrapple Festival — Bridgeville
One of Sussex County’s biggest fall traditions returns Friday and Saturday, bringing food, crafts, live entertainment, carnival rides and the popular Scrapple Sling competition to downtown Bridgeville. Saturday’s activities run from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Wilmington International Film Festival — Wilmington
Independent films, international productions, documentaries and filmmaker events fill downtown Wilmington venues through Sunday. The festival offers audiences an opportunity to discover films outside the traditional commercial theater circuit.
Delaware State University Homecoming — Dover
Delaware State University welcomes Franklin Pierce for its homecoming football game Saturday at 1 p.m. at Alumni Stadium, adding to a weekend of alumni and campus activities.
Fifer’s Fall Festival — Camden-Wyoming
Pumpkins, farm attractions, seasonal treats and family activities make Fifer Orchards a popular autumn destination. Saturday’s festival runs from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Amish Country Bike Tour — Dover
Cyclists will travel scenic roads throughout central Delaware Saturday during the 40th annual Amish Country Bike Tour. Multiple routes accommodate riders of different abilities, with activities centered around Legislative Mall.
Nature and Outdoor Adventures — New Castle County
Families can watch migrating hawks at Ashland Nature Center near Hockessin or explore Wilmington’s wetlands through Delaware Nature Society programs. Both offer opportunities to experience Delaware’s natural environment during the fall migration season.
Live Music — Wilmington and Smyrna
Vinyl Shockley performs Saturday evening at The Queen in Wilmington, while Van Halen Nation brings classic rock to the Smyrna Opera House.
