arrived in Peru’s northern La Libertad region on Friday to carry out various activities within the framework of the fight against organized crime.
On this occasion, the Head of State was accompanied by Ministers Rafael Belaunde (Defense), Cesar Astudillo (Interior), and Ernesto Alvarez (Justice and Human Rights).
“We will not stop until we restore peace and order in our country,” Fujimori said from the National Police Special Services Unit in Trujillo.
There, the Head of State highlighted the creation of the Unified Command for the Fight Against Crime.
She thanked members of the Armed Forces and National Police who risk their lives to protect citizens.
The top official highlighted the arrival of elite forces that will be deployed to the most dangerous areas of the region and the country.
During her speech, the President called on the private sector to support the Government by providing the technology it needs.
Furthermore, she addressed organized civil society, the three levels of government, the justice system, and the press.
“I urge the justice system to ensure that our men’s efforts yield results, because what is the point of having hundreds of people arrested and others deported? Undocumented foreign nationals will leave the country. I appeal to the justice system to ensure that those we arrest are prosecuted and sentenced,” Fujimori said.
The President also announced that a reward program will be reinstated to secure the capture of the main criminal ringleaders.
“This is a declaration of war, and of course, we will win it,” Fujimori underscored.
Earlier, the top official inspected El Milagro Prison in an event marking the start of efforts to regain control of all correctional facilities nationwide.
