JLP activates processes to expel Councillor Tanyalee Williams from the party

The Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, says it has activated processes to expel Councillor for the May Pen North Division, Tanyalee Williams, from the party.

This, following attempts by Williams on Thursday to cross the floor in the Clarendon Muncipal Corporation.

Williams reportedly made the attempt at the full meeting of the council, but used an incorrect procedure as per the standing orders.

The move was declared inadmissible, and the meeting adjourned shortly thereafter.

According to Williams, she has been pushed aside by Member of Parliament for Central Clarendon, Delroy Williams.

In a short statement under an hour ago, the JLP said it has taken note of the public announcement by Councillor Williams of her intention to join another political party.

It says that with the Secretariat of the JLP having not received a formal resignation letter from Williams, processes to facilitate her expulsion have been activated.
