A graveside service for Dr. Marshall C. Sasser, MD, will be held May 24 at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery with the Rev. Rocky Taylor and the Rev. Scott Johnson officiating.

Sasser, faithful servant of Christ, a devoted physician and beloved member of the Conway community, passed away peacefully May 21 in Conway. He was a respected urologist, who served patients with compassion and integrity for more than 35 years.

A South Carolina native, Dr. Sasser was a graduate of Davidson College and earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. Beyond medicine, he shared his lifelong love of the outdoors especially waterfowl and snakes with family and friends.

Dr. Sasser was a talented, accomplished carver of decoys and other beautiful birds. His connection to nature through art and photography reflected his quiet wisdom and artistic spirit symbolizing his love for a place he called “The Ricefields”.

Dr. Sasser was one of the founding members of both The Historic Ricefields Association as well as the Conway High School Educational Foundation.

Above all, Dr. Sasser was a man of deep Christian faith. He loved the Lord with all his heart and lived out that faith through decades of dedicated service at First Baptist Church of Conway. One of his greatest passions was sharing the love of Christ with the next generation, and he was especially committed to mentoring and guiding the youth of the church in their walk with God. Dr. Sasser also mentored young outdoor enthusiasts through The Boy Scouts and the South Carolina Wildlife Federation.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marsha Ey Sasser of Conway; his son, Marshall Craig Sasser Jr. and his wife Jessica of Georgetown, and their sons Marshall Craig Sasser III and John Henry Sasser; his daughter, Suzanne Ramsey and her husband Gary, and their daughters Virginia Alexandra Bennett (Zach) and Katherine Erica Clark.

He is also survived by his stepsons, John Moffett Proctor (Ashley), and their children Kinley Knox Proctor and Jones Clemson Proctor; and Dr. Charles Medlock Proctor (Stacey), and their children Charles Kahler Proctor and Josephine Margaret Proctor.
