New owners of Fazio's hope to keep restaurant traditions alive

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – A community staple of Charleston, West Virginia, is under new ownership.

With the help of a team of investors, former WV Delegate Doug Skaff and Hale House owner Vincente Cruz bought the Italian restaurant, Fazio’s, in downtown Charleston. The duo says they are working to honor the restaurant’s heritage and keep the memories and traditions alive through recipes that weren’t even written on paper.

“It’s one of my favorite restaurants to go to, and to see it disappear, I think, would be an injustice for Charleston,” Cruz said. “This has been a staple, and I want to see it continue to survive.”

The new owners closed on the sale from the previous owners, who are members of the Fazio family, just days ago, and they say they have not missed a beat.

The eatery was family-owned and operated for 75 years, and Skaff and Cruz say they hope to spend the next few months learning how to carry on the time-honored traditions.

The restaurant is still open for its normal operating hours, and the new owners say there will be no changes.
