The Rajgopal Nagar police have arrested a 24-year-old canter driver on the charges of killing an autorickshaw driver on Sunday night .

The deceased has been identified as Rangaswamy and the accused Vinay Kumar, a resident of Basavanakatte, who has been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

According to the police, Rangaswamy was drunk and started creating ruckus in the area he was living in by shouting and hurling abuses at passers-by. Unable to bear this, Vinay Kumar confronted Rangaswamy and asked him to behave. A heated argument ensued between them and in the melee, Vinay Kumar allegedly pushed Rangaswamy, who fell down and sustained severe head injuries.

He was rushed to Victoria hospital where he succumbed the next day.
