Organization of Turkic States discusses cooperation in defense industry in Baku

AKIPRESS.COM – The 2nd meeting of the Heads of Defense Industry Institutions of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held in Baku on October 1, the OTS press service reported.

The meeting was chaired by Minister of Defense Industry of Azerbaijan Vugar Mustafayev and attended by Secretary of Defense Industry of Türkiye Haluk Görgün, Chairman of the Committee on Defense Industry under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan Akmal Jumanazarov, Vice-Minister of Industry and Construction of Azerbaijan Rakhymzhan Isakulov, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic Azizbek Baibalaev, as well as Secretary General of the OTS Kubanychbek Omuraliev.

The parties underscored the importance of enhancing defense industry cooperation under the OTS given the rising security risks and challenges in the surrounding region as well as the rapid transformation of defense industry with advanced digital instruments and artificial intelligence.

They also discussed prospects for cooperation, including potential joint defense industry projects and opportunities for joint research and development, co-production, subcontracting, localization and technology cooperation.

The sides adopted the Roadmap for Cooperation in Defense Industry among the OTS member states for 2027, which outlines solid projects to be collectively realized in the upcoming period.
