Jakarta, IO – The long career of Bing Slamet in the entertainment industry can now be explored through the Bing Slamet Museum in Central Jakarta. The museum houses various objects and documents related to the artist’s life and career.
The museum is housed in a home with a long history in Indonesia’s arts and cultural scene. Built around 1956, the house was once a gathering place for artists and cultural figures, particularly from the 1950s to the 1970s. Various conversations and discussions about art and culture took place there, becoming part of Bing Slamet’s life until his death in 1974.
Inside the museum, visitors can see a number of Bing Slamet’s personal belongings. One display case features clothing he wore throughout his career as an artist.
Other personal items on display include Bing Slamet’s work bag and passport. These objects are an important part of the museum’s collection because of their direct connection to the artist’s life and activities.

The museum also features an interactive area designed to give visitors a more engaging experience. At the back of the museum, visitors can see photographs of Bing Slamet while looking in a mirror and imitating the artist’s expressions.
Bing Slamet’s son, Adi Bing Slamet, said the area gives visitors an opportunity to interact more closely with documentation of his father.
Today, the house has once again become a space for introducing Bing Slamet to the public. Through personal belongings, documentation and interactive displays, the Bing Slamet Museum brings to life glimpses of the artist’s life while telling the story of the artistic and cultural community that once flourished there.
