Theme: “Empowering Pharmacists for Healthier Futures”

I bring you Greetings-

As we commemorate World Pharmacists Day 2026 under the theme, “Empowering Pharmacists for Healthier Futures.” It gives me great pleasure and privilege, to extend warm greeting to All pharmacist, Pharmacy Students and other pharmacy Professionals and the Citizens of Grenada.

I wish to commend the committee for organizing this important Week of Activities, which brings together a series of professional development, public education, community outreach, fellowship, and advocacy. These initiatives demonstrate the commitment of our profession to serving not only sick patients waiting to fill prescriptions but also engaging the wider community.

World Pharmacists Day provides us with an opportunity to reflect on the essential role these incredible pharmacists play within the healthcare system. Pharmacists are among the most accessible healthcare professionals. They are often the first point of contact for people seeking advice about medicines, minor ailments, chronic disease management, and other general health concerns.

Our responsibility extends far beyond the preparation and dispensing of medication.

We have a duty and a responsibility as Pharmacists to ensure that medicines are safe and effective, appropriately dispensed, properly stored, and administered correctly.  As Pharmacist, We must always provide accurate information to patients, we must be able to identify potential medicine-related problems and encourage compliance to patients taking prescribed medications. Pharmacists also work closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients.

The theme, “Empowering Pharmacists for Healthier Futures,” is therefore both timely and meaningful. Empowerment requires access to continuous education, professional development, supportive legislation, and effective regulations, these will enhance further opportunities for pharmacists to contribute to better healthcare planning and delivery.

As the practice of pharmacy continues to evolve, Pharmacists must remain committed to lifelong learning of new and developing medicines, changing medicines treatment guidelines, newer technological developments, and the processing of electronic prescriptions and tele medicines and furthermore, adherence to greater aspects of pharmacovigilance, as well as understanding newer public health challenges. New and developing emerging healthcare needs which require us to remain informed, adaptable, and professionally prepared.

Pharmacists must also continue to improve public confidence in the profession through integrity, accountability, more compassionate, and must show respect for every patient. Every interaction at the pharmacy counter is an opportunity to educate and reassure patients of confidence and trust. Pharmacists must do everything in their power to promote healthier choices and better lifestyle changes for patients.

As Chairman of the Grenada Pharmacy Council, I wish to emphasize that professional empowerment must always be accompanied by professional responsibility. The protection of the public remains important and central to pharmacy regulation. We must always uphold the highest standards of Pharmacy practice, and maintain accurate records keeping, we must develop better safeguards for dispensing and promote good dispensing practices, promote appropriate medicine usage, and ensure that pharmacy professionals meet the requirements necessary to practice safely and competently.

I wish to recognize the Grenada Association of Pharmacists, the Minister and The Ministry of Health, educational institutions like TAMCC and SGU and other Training Agencies, pharmacy professionals and Pharmacy Owners, and other stakeholders for their collaboration with the Pharmacy Council, emphasizing that they all have important roles to play. But by working together, we can strengthen pharmacy services, improve education and training, and build a proper foundation for the next generation of pharmacists and Pharmacy professionals, so that they are better able to respond more effectively to the growing healthcare needs of our people.

I encourage pharmacists across Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique to participate actively in these initiatives. Your voice, your experience, and your ideas are valuable. The future of pharmacy will be shaped not only by policies and institutional developments, but by the commitment and involvement of individual pharmacists like yourselves.

As we celebrate this special occasion, World Pharmacist Day 2026. I call on All Pharmacist to Stand Up and Be Counted. Let us renew our dedication to patient-centered care, better ethical practices, professional excellence, and service to our nation. Let us continue to demonstrate that pharmacists are essential partners in building healthier families, healthier communities, and a healthier Grenada.

On behalf of the Grenada Pharmacy Council, I extend sincere congratulations and appreciation to the Grenada Association of Pharmacists for their continued work on behalf of the Pharmacy profession here in Grenada. Today, I salute all pharmacists, young and old, pharmacy assistants, Pharmacy students, and other support staff whose daily efforts contribute to the safe and effective delivery of prescription medicines.

May this World Pharmacists Day inspire us as Pharmacist to strengthen our knowledge, deepen our commitment, support one another, and embrace the opportunities before us.

May God bless our pharmacists, bless all healthcare workers, and continue to bless the people and Nation of Grenada.
