Former nurse accused of sexually assaulting patients at EvergreenHealth Monroe

EVERETT — A former Snohomish County nurse is facing felony charges after being accused of sexually assaulting at least three patients at EvergreenHealth Monroe.

The 61-year-old Marysville man is suspected of inappropriately touching the female patients following multiple reports dating back to 2024 and 2025, according to probable cause documents from detectives with the Monroe Police Department.

Prosecutors filed charges for four counts of indecent liberties by a healthcare provider on Wednesday.

Police began investigating in January 2025 after staff at EvergreenHealth Monroe reported a sexual assault disclosed by a 61-year-old patient, court documents said.

The woman said she was under the nurse’s care while recovering from surgery, according to the police report.

Among the allegations, the nurse reportedly discouraged the woman from using an external catheter, instead opting to clean the woman himself after she went to the bathroom, court documents said.

At one point, after the nurse applied lotion to the woman, she thanked him and he allegedly whispered to her “Maybe you can take care of me sometime,” then kissed her on the lips while wearing a mask, the police report said.

She also accused him of grabbing her breasts and rubbing her genitals before she reported the nurse to hospital staff, according to court documents.

Detectives followed up on a pair of previous complaints against the nurse, when patients alleged he touched areas of the woman that were not required by his duties, the police report said.

One woman, 47, alleged the nurse frequently hugged her and held her hand, court documents said. He reportedly insisted on doing a head-to-toe check of the woman without giving a reason and attempted to remove the woman’s bra despite her refusing multiple times.

Another victim, a 49-year-old woman, said the same nurse attempted to get her to remove her clothing and examine her entire body, despite having no reason to, according to court documents. The nurse then allegedly began touching her, grabbing her breasts and genitals in a “sexual way,” the police report said.

The woman reportedly told police she thought the nurse was going to rape her, court documents said.

Detectives allege the nurse used his position as a nurse to assault his patients, according to the police report.

The nurse was suspended from the hospital in January 2025 following the allegations made against him, according to court documents. He reportedly resigned from the hospital while an internal investigation was ongoing, the police report said.

“Patient safety and the trust our community places in our care are of the utmost importance,” a spokeperson for EvergreenHealth Monroe said in an email on Thursday. “The individual is no longer employed by EvergreenHealth Monroe. We are unable to comment further at this time.”

The suspect has not yet been scheduled for an initial arraignment, according to online court records.

He is not listed as having been booked into the Snohomish County Jail as of Thursday, online records said. Court documents show the man has no previous criminal history.
