The meeting took place as part of the Head of State’s trip to participate in the United Nations General Assembly. It was attended by Foreign Affairs Minister Carlos Espa as well.

During the meeting, Peru’s top official underscored that financial health and inclusion are pillars of an economic system focused on people’s well-being.

In this regard, she noted that the Government seeks to improve access to, use of, and quality of financial services, as well as ensure that they are provided within a secure, sustainable, and inclusive system.

Additionally, the Head of State presented Peru’s progress in implementing the National Financial Inclusion Policy, which seeks to improve the population’s economic well-being by incorporating people into the formal financial system.

The top official also underscored that the policy is implemented through a Multisectoral Strategic Plan, which coordinates the actions of the relevant entities to promote sustainable financial inclusion.

The Head of State added that the Government is developing financial education initiatives nationwide, with the participation of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and other sectors, to strengthen public confidence in the financial system.
