INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Central Indiana stays gray and damp today before a big cool-down arrives late this week, bringing the coldest temperatures since last spring.

Today:

The drizzle will transition to light rain showers by midday before switching back to drizzle tonight. Overcast skies will stay in place all day.

The lack of sunshine will keep temperatures cool. Highs will struggle to climb out of the low to mid-60s across most of central Indiana.

Tonight:

Mostly cloudy with drizzle. Lows will stay in the low to mid-50s.

Tomorrow:

Thursday starts mostly cloudy, but we should see some breaks in the clouds by late afternoon as the upper low exits to the southeast.

Highs will reach the mid to upper 60s and lower 70s.

Friday night:

This is when the big cool-down arrives. With clearing skies and light winds, temperatures will drop into the 40s to low 50s statewide. This will be the coolest night since last spring.

This weekend:

The afternoon looks pleasant with partly sunny skies and highs in the low to mid-70s.

Saturday and Sunday bring mostly sunny skies with highs climbing into the mid to upper 70s. Perfect fall weather returns.

A warming trend continues into early next week. High pressure remains in control, bringing mostly sunny skies. Highs Monday could touch the low 80s.

The pleasant, dry weather looks to continue through midweek with temperatures staying in the upper 70s to low 80s. Rain chances stay away through early next week.
