The powers to electronically monitor defendants will be transferred from the justice authorities to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan adopted the relevant resolution.

The Justice Ministry must, within one month, transfer information and materials on defendants subject to electronic monitoring as a preventive measure to the Interior Ministry. Personal data protection must be ensured during the transfer.

The Interior Ministry and the State Committee for National Security have been instructed to develop, within two months, departmental regulations governing the use of electronic and other technical monitoring devices.

The Justice Ministry will retain responsibility for monitoring the whereabouts of people who have committed domestic violence.
