ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Rio Grande Rivalry returns Saturday as New Mexico and New Mexico State meet again with more than 100 years of bad blood behind the matchup.

The New Mexico Lobos and New Mexico State Aggies will face off Saturday in Las Cruces.

New Mexico won the last two matchups, including last year’s 38 to 20 victory in Albuquerque.

UNM enters the game after a 14 to 6 loss to Oklahoma and holds a 2 to 1 record. NMSU comes off a bye week and is 1 to 2.

UNM head coach Jason Eck said his team is not overlooking New Mexico State.

“I think their O-Line has improved from last year. I know that was an advantage for us in the game last year, but their offensive line has improved.,” Jason Eck said.

The game is expected to draw a big crowd. The last time the teams met in Las Cruces, attendance was a little more than 21,000.

“We got to stay focused on the task at hand. And, you know, not let emotion play with us,” Eck said.
