Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Figures released by the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) showed that the country’s foreign reserves declined to $80.63 billion at the end of July 2026, compared to $86.17 billion at the end of June and $97.432 billion at the end of 2025.
Foreign reserves in US dollars fell by roughly $16.79 billion in the first seven months of 2026 compared to the end of 2025, representing a reduction of nearly 17.2 percent.
The value of foreign reserves in Iraqi dinars declined to 104.82 trillion Iraqi dinars (approximately $80.19 billion) at the end of July, compared to 112.02 trillion Iraqi dinars (about $85.7 billion) at the end of June and 126.66 trillion Iraqi dinars (nearly $96.9 billion) at the end of 2025.
The value of gold reserves saw a slight increase to 29.66 trillion Iraqi dinars (nearly $22.7 billion) at the end of July, compared to 29.41 trillion Iraqi dinars (about $22.5 billion) at the end of June, but remained below their level at the end of 2025, which was 31.48 trillion Iraqi dinars (approximately $24.08 billion).
The CBI’s investments declined to 75.03 trillion Iraqi dinars (about $57.4 billion) at the end of July, compared to 81.99 trillion Iraqi dinars (around $62.7 billion) at the end of June and 93.26 trillion Iraqi dinars ($71.34 billion) at the end of 2025.
Cash reserves held in the CBI’s vaults also decreased to 124 billion Iraqi dinars ($94.86 million) at the end of July, compared to 614 billion Iraqi dinars (nearly $470 million) at the end of June and 1.9 trillion Iraqi dinars ($1.45 billion) at the end of 2025.
