The low pressure in the Bay of Bengal region has resulted in heavy rainfall in AP and Telangana as stated by the Meteorological Department. As told by Prakhar Jain, Managing Director of the State Disaster Management Authority, the occurrence of cyclonic circulation in the North Andaman Sea is responsible for the above-mentioned situation. It is estimated that this phenomenon will travel towards west-northwest direction and will turn into a depression over the East-Central Bay of Bengal by Monday, becoming a deep depression by Tuesday.
It is believed that on Wednesday morning, it will reach the West-Central and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal in vicinity of the coasts of South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has stated that rains are likely in several districts of Telangana due to the influence of the low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal and an ‘Orange Alert’ has been issued for four districts and a ‘Yellow Alert’ for nine districts. There is rains predicted in Andhra Pradesh as well for five days.
It is predicted that the likelihood of rain accompanied by thunder and lightning, alongside gusty winds blowing at speeds of up to 40 kmph.
