Volume on aiga buses unbelievably loud

Dear Editor,

I just returned home from a nice visit to American Samoa. It is a beautiful place with friendly people!

I have only one complaint that I want to share. The volume of music on aiga buses was unbelievably loud. As an adult, I could tolerate it – except once when the bass made started to make me dizzy. But for kids, for high schoolers, and even small babies I saw on the bus, repeated exposure to such loud noise will damage their hearing. In the States, this would be a public health issue. A few folks who live in American Samoa say that their house starts to shake whenever an aiga bus approaches. Again, this would be a disturbance of peace in the States.

American Samoans are free to make whatever rules they want for their people. As a tourist who chose to visit, who cares about my health above anything, and care about the health of kids, I wanted to share my view. No SubWoofers on busses is my strong recommendation.

Thanks for a nice time on your green green island.

Sincerely,
Dr. Roger Anderson, California
