LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Police Department is investigating a shooting in northeast Lincoln on Tuesday that led to the death of a 19-year-old woman. We’re told one person is in custody at this time.

LPD said it happened around 7:20 p.m. when officers responded to a disturbance involving juveniles in the area of N. 47th St. and Cleveland Ave.

While interviewing those on the scene, officers heard a gunshot near N. 46th St. and Madison Ave.

LPD said that’s where officers found the victim with a single gunshot wound. They performed life-saving measures on her before she was taken to the hospital, where she died from her injuries.

“Our thoughts are with her loved ones,” LPD said in a press release late Tuesday.

Police said they are speaking with multiple witnesses and crime scene technicians were on the scene for several hours.

LPD is expected to provide more information during a briefing at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
