ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Many places in New Mexico saw the most rain in months Monday, including Albuquerque where the Sunport measured the most single-day rain this monsoon season.
Several metro areas grabbed upwards of an inch or more of accumulated rainfall! The rain chance will continue Tuesday. Flood watches are set to go in effect over flooding concerns the rain will bring.
Morning forecast models remained active for many areas of the state to see showers and storms as a disturbance that will gradually lift northward. There’s a lot of moisture embedded in with this disturbance. It’s set to carry 150-200% above normal precipitable water values. This basically means that storms that tap into this moisture will be capable of producing heavy rains.
This disturbance is also filtering cloud cover out ahead of it. This may make the forecast a bit more tricky. If that cloud cover sticks around throughout the day, it will keep us cooler.
Tomorrow’s rain chances do look slightly better than today for Albuquerque and definitely should remain elevated for western and northern New Mexico. Thursday and Friday will also carry high rain chances.
