20 Years for Soldiers who killed three men and dumped their bodies in Mohale Dam

Sergeant Lekhooa Moepi and Private Tieho Tikiso were sentenced after abducting, strangling and dumping three men’s bodies in Mohale Dam.

Two soldiers, Sergeant Lekhooa Moepi and Private Tieho Tikiso, have been sentenced to 20 years in prison for their involvement in the murders of three men whom they abducted, strangled and dumped in Mohale Dam.

The victims

The deceased are Khothatso Makibinyane, Mokise Pakela and Lekhoele Noko.

The case involved the abduction and killing of three men whose bodies were subsequently dumped in Mohale Dam.

This means that, effectively, both soldiers will serve a further 11 years in prison.

Time already served counted

Judge Moroke Mokhesi handed down the sentences, while ordering that the nine years the two soldiers have already spent in custody since 29 September 2017 be credited towards their sentences.

This means that, effectively, both soldiers will serve a further 11 years in prison.

The court therefore effectively imposed a 20-year sentence on each accused, with the nine years already served since 2017 deducted from the sentence.
