MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) formally disqualified the Moro Ako Party and removed it from the Major regional parliamentary political party (RPPP) roster for the first Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
In the issued certificate of finality and entry of judgement, the Comelec en banc, in accordance with Resolution No. 11220, denied the motion for reconsideration of Moro Ako Party for lack of merit.
The Comelec en banc previously granted the petition of petitioner Aladin Abdul to cancel the party’s registration over alleged material misrepresentations.

The petitioner alleged that the Moro Ako Party declared non-existent city chapters in Cotabato City and Lamitan City, as well as municipal chapters in the provinces of Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur.
In defense, Moro Ako Party said the erroneous chapter designations were only “typographical errors.”

Meanwhile, under Resolution No. 11271, the Moro Ako party was removed from the major accredited RPPP list after the order was deemed “final and executory”.
“Its accreditation as a Major RPPP is deemed revoked, and all entitlements, privileges, and preferences granted to it, including the allotment of the 12th copy of the election returns and the privilege to appoint watchers, are hereby withdrawn,” the Resolution No. 11271 stated.
This comes a few days before the historic BARMM parliamentary elections on Monday, Sept. 14, where around 2.3 million voters are expected to vote 80 members of the parliament seat. /gsg
